Who it suits
Clausen is a narrow valley neighbourhood east of Grund, defined by Rives de Clausen — a converted Mousel and Clausel brewery site now hosting bars, restaurants and the occasional live gig. It suits younger travellers and anyone whose priority is going out without needing a taxi home. It's also a solid base if you’re hiking the Wenzel walking route, which passes through on its way to the Bock.
It doesn’t suit families or early sleepers. Weekend noise carries up the valley walls until 3am. It's also cut off from Kirchberg unless you take bus 14 or walk 20 minutes uphill.
Price and access
Accommodation is thin — a couple of small hotels and short-term rentals — and prices sit 20-30 EUR below Ville Haute at 140-190 EUR for a double. Meliá Luxembourg, on the Kirchberg edge, is a common compromise choice at 200-260 EUR with skyline views over Clausen.
Walkable to: Rives de Clausen bars, the Wenzel path ramparts, the Trois Tours (three towers), and Neumünster Abbey via a 12-minute riverside walk. The Fort Thüngen and Mudam contemporary art museum are 15 minutes uphill on foot.

Is Clausen safe walking back at night?
Yes. The valley is well-lit and busy until late on weekends, and Luxembourg has very low street crime overall.
Does the funicular reach Clausen?
No, the funicular runs between Pfaffenthal and Kirchberg. For Clausen use bus 14 from Hamilius or walk down from Ville Haute via Montée de Clausen.
