Friday: Arrival and the capital
Land at Findel by mid-afternoon, take bus 16 or the tram from Luxexpo into town (25 minutes, free). Drop bags, then do the Corniche and Bock Casemates before they close at 18:00. Dinner in Clausen at the Rives de Clausen complex — the old Mousel brewery is now half a dozen restaurants and bars in the arches under Kirchberg.
Sleep in Ville Haute or the Gare. If you plan to rent a car Saturday morning, the Gare hotels are closer to the pickup desks at the station.
Saturday: The Moselle wine route
Pick up a car at 09:00 (rentals from the station district run 55-75 euros/day). Drive 25 minutes to Remich. Cellar visit at Caves St. Martin at 10:30 (12 euros with tasting), then the scenic road north through Stadtbredimus, Ehnen and Wormeldange — Luxembourg's Crémant and Riesling heartland. Lunch at Restaurant Mathes in Ahn (menu around 45 euros, book ahead).
Afternoon at Domaine Alice Hartmann in Wormeldange for a proper tasting flight, then back via Grevenmacher. Sleep in Ehnen or Mondorf-les-Bains — Hôtel Simmer in Ehnen is a river-view classic; Mondorf Parc Hôtel gives you thermal bath access before Sunday.
Sunday: Mullerthal and home
Drive 40 minutes north to Echternach. Park at the abbey and walk section 2 of the Mullerthal Trail: Echternach to Berdorf via the Wolfsschlucht and Perekop rock formations, about 10 km and 3.5 hours through the sandstone gorges known as Little Switzerland.
Lunch at Le Cigalon in Berdorf, drive back via Larochette (small castle worth 20 minutes) and drop the car at the airport by 18:00. Total driving over three days: about 180 km.

Do I really need a car for a long weekend?
For the Moselle and Mullerthal loop, yes. Buses reach both regions but connections are hourly and eat half your day. Rent for Saturday and Sunday only if you want to save.
Is three days enough to see the country?
You’ll see three of its four distinct landscapes — city, wine coast and sandstone forest. You’ll miss the industrial south (Esch, Belval) and the far Ardennes (Clervaux). Save those for a return trip.
